Forest Hills Preschool and CampbellCare

Multifunctional Age-appropriate Space

  • Project: Expansion and New School Construction
  • Type: Early Education
  • Completion Date: August 2014

Project Background

High demand prompted the Campbell Union School District to increase its extension programming, offering a new preschool and year-round Before and After Care programs to serve the Forest Hills community. Based on the success of other joint projects, CUSD asked American Modular Systems to replicate its Gen7 CampbellCare design on the Forest Hills Elementary School campus. The high performance modular building includes one preschool classroom and four CampbellCare rooms, with integral kitchens, restrooms and offices— a multifunctional age-appropriate space that accommodates a variety of hands-on learning and enrichment activities conducive to early education.

The healthy, high-quality design is safe and sustainable, constructed with recycled materials, low maintenance finishes and durable, child-safe surfaces. The open floorplan is ideal for interest-based learning, providing ample flex-space for children to gameplay and share in group activities that help develop the social and problem-solving skills necessary for growth. Quiet, energy-efficient systems, skylights and large low-E view windows meet the District’s sustainability goals, while making the space warm and welcoming for children. A natural ventilation system circulates fresh, filtered air, optimizing indoor air quality, while premium acoustics soften the exuberant noise of preschoolers at play.
